Silk'n Roses

This little heart is again one of those things that just happened.

It all started with a heart shaped cardboard tag from my daughter's new dress, that I liked and kept to use as a pattern, and a piece of cream silk satin cut too small for another project 

(I know, measure twice... believe me, I did.)

I stitched the outline of the heart with Portuguese stem stitch using ecru DMC perle cotton no.8 

and from there on roses started blooming... 

I am sooo happy to be stitching again!

His photo on a café named after him, actually, and to tell you the truth, I am not quite sure how much of my smile was for him and how much for the prospect of having a cup of much needed coffee.
Now don't be too disappointed in me, I do smile at my husband a lot, too :)

Dimensional Daisies Class

The online Dimensional Daisies Class I am teaching via Maureen's Vintage Acquisitions is only two days away. The three weeks' class starts on Saturday, September 15. We are going to work together on two designs: the daisy bouquet you can see in the picture below and a revised version of my previous daisy wreath design.

My Muse seems to have decided to take a vacation... That is not necessarily a bad thing, as both my studio and my thoughts/plans are in desperate need for some really good organizing. I do hope She will be back soon, though :)

Mementos of An Old Romance

A couple of weeks ago, when the heat was still bearable and we could go for long walks during the day, we stumbled upon a small antiques' fair of no more than maybe fifteen vendors in all.
One of them had a box filled with old photographs and postcards, and I picked up ten of them. Only when I got home did I realize that they were all written by the same two people... Mementos of an old romance, with beautiful messages of love written on their backs.

Today I am sharing with you, dear friends, the first one of these lovely postcards, with the rest of my humble collection to come in future posts. Feel free to download and use them in your projects if you'd like.

Another Eyeglass Case

Getting the pattern right for the clasp frame just kept bugging me. I even dreamt that I was redrawing it, making complicated calculations, using some really weird measuring tools...LOL
So I had to make another one, this time a little bit wider at the hinges of the clasp frame.

It does look better than the previous one, but I still feel like I am missing something. Probably something so obvious, that I'm going to have a good laugh when I finally get it...

 Other than the hinge issue, I really like this case too, so now I'm going to have to toss a coin to "decide" which one to keep for myself :)

Fairy Tales

After finishing up the flower fairy phone pouch (tried several threads to outline the butterfly, but as none of them seemed right, in the end decided to just leave it as it was),

I had a go at attaching my first clasp frame to an eyeglass case I've pieced and embellished a couple of days ago.

I really love how it turned out, except I should have made my pattern a little bit wider... Oh, well... the next one will be better :) 

How cute are those little fairies reading their fairy tales book?!

Summer Break Is On!

Less time for stitching, but ...

Oh, so much more time for being together and having loads of fun,

going on adventures and making new friends,

having as many "sweet treats" as we can eat,

and also stitching a little bit during nap time :)

My latest flower fairy phone pouch in progress - it still needs a couple of finishing touches here and there, like a darker highlight around the lace butterfly...
