Monday and Thursday / Hétfő és csütörtök

... are studio days. This means that I get to spend the whole day in my studio... Today was about stash organizing, working on some orders and at the end of the working day, I treated myself to an hour of improvising.
... műhely napok. Ez azt jelenti, hogy reggeltől estig itt vagyok... A mai nap az anyagok rendszerezéséről és megrendelt munkákról szólt, a nap végén pedig megajándékoztam magam egy órányi improvizációval.

There was a small piece of claret taffeta which kept falling near the scrap bin so I took it, and since the hand dyed threads were already on the table, I let them fraternize :)
This is what happened:
Volt egy darab bordó taftom ami sehogy sem akart beletalálni a textildarabkás dobozba, fogtam és rátettem a 12cm-es hímzőkeretre. A színátmenetes fonalak már az asztalomon voltak, úgyhogy hagytam őket barátkozni :)

I'll give myself the same treat on Monday afternoon, we'll see then what will become of this :)
Hétfőn is magajándékozom magam egy hasonló órával, meglátjuk akkor mi lesz még ebből :)

Going Crazy

It's official: I am hooked. Addicted. Madly in love. You name it... Crazy quilting got under my skin, into my heart and mind and soul.

Ok, I read everything I could find about it, a spent long hours researching the web, reading blogs, got excited, then overwhelmed, amazed by all the gorgeous things I found and learned, by the endless possibilities... 

By the time I realized what kind of stash I needed if I wanted to really crazy quilt, the "damage" was done, there was no way back, so I started building one. I already had lots of cotton embroidery floss, perle cottons, a few trims and charms and beads, even some silk ribbon. (Could it be that on some subconscious level I was preparing for this craziness?) What I needed were fancy fabrics: silks, taffetas, laces... Even went through my wardrobe :D (Watch for your clothes and other fabrics, by the way, I may be wandering about with scissors in my hands) Oh, well, that's how crazy crazy quilting has gotten me...

Having a few projects in mind, I spent the morning organizing my new fabrics, and as modest as my collection is at this time, it was soooo much fun and soooo inspiring, that I simply had to take some pictures:

The laces and trims are next in line to be organized, but that's a story for another day.

(Is it even legal to have so much fun?)

Easter Egg / Hímes tojás

Of course, there will also be some traditional easter eggs, dyed with onion, but until then:
Természetesen, hagyományos, hagymahajjal festett tojás is lesz majd, de addig is:

I only wanted to sew together a simple egg, but the minute it was stuffed, things started to happen to it, and this is what I saw when I came to my senses...
Csak egy egyszerű tömött tojást akartam összedobni, de tömés után hirtelen mintha életre kelt volna, és csak történtek maguktól a dolgok...

I thought it would be too much to embellish it all the way around, so I just gave it a "face".
Úgy éreztem, túl sok lenne ha teljesen feldíszíteném, így csak egy "arcot" kapott.

How is it, that the things I make without thinking or planning, letting my hands to just follow the lead given by the fabrics, threads and embellishments, are the ones that I like the most and are closest to my heart?

Heirloom Wedding Treasures - Ring Pillow / Gyűrűpárna

My two and a half years old daughter made me promise I'll make one for her too, for when she'll be a bride. It's never too soon to start planning :D

Két és fél éves kislányom megígértette velem, hogy neki is varrok egyet mire menyasszony lesz. Nem lehet elég korán kezdeni a tervezgetést :D

have learnt quite a lot of stitches and stitch combinations, but somehow I ended up using only two of them on this heart.

és rengeteg új öltést és öltéskombinációt fedeztem fel (bár ezen a szíven ez még nem látszik :D)

But the most important lesson CQ gave me today, was about humility... 

De a legfontosabb lecke amit ma a CQ-től kaptam, a szerénységről szólt...

I hope I've learned it...

Remélem megtanultam...
