Scissor Case

The object of my distraction is finished and already inhabited.

It is not a piece that would win a scissor case beauty contest for more than one reasons, but at least now I know what to do differently the next time I get distracted...

Happy weekend, Everyone!

Inspiration Exists, But...

As I entered the studio this morning, my plans were pretty clear: sew up the fairy phone pouch and move on to finish embellishing the eyeglass case that goes with it (I don't know if I have ever mentioned this before, but I have exactly four and a half hours of studio time every day).
And so I did. The first part, anyway... Here is this lovely phone pouch to prove that.

But then... even though deadlines are pressing, I just couldn't help but surrender to the urge of making a pattern for a scissor case, drawing an embroidery pattern and quickly embroidering it... Now, do I really need a scissor case right now? Not really. And as I said before, I should really, really be doing something else. Nevertheless, I am having fun with it and I am so curious to see how it will turn out, that I WILL finish it up tomorrow, even if that means a sleepless night or two spent with finishing up the commissions.

Do you think he meant "working on something else"??? LOL

Eyeglass Case Finished And Fairies Visiting

Today my sewing machine has returned to the studio after a short visit to the repair shop and now she is doing better than ever, so "we" managed to finish up the eyeglass case I showed you in my previous post.

And also started on a new phone pouch with a lovely image of sweet little fairies. This pouch will form a set with an eyeglass case.

So far the phone pouch is ready to be sewn up and the eyeglass case is pieced, waiting to be embellished.

Phone Pouch and Eyeglass Case

Cristina's phone pouch is now finished, thanks to Gerry Krueger's more than 2 cents' worth tip, which I was really happy and grateful to receive in a kind email.
Balance, balance... The lonely flower on the top got some beading in a color matching the violets (more so in reality than in the photo.)

And another pretty lady, again with a lovely hat - I seem to have a soft spot for images with ladies in flowery hats lately, found her place on an eyeglass case almost ready to be sewn up.

There's still a string of beads I want to add to the scalloped edge of the lace on the bottom.

I hope you are all having a wonderful week!

Violets And Flowering Almonds

I feel that something is still missing and I can't put my finger on it, so I ended up leaving the lady in the green hat to stretch / block over night.

Violets and flowering almond blooms, or "baby roses" as we call them in Hungarian, are keeping her company, along with a lovely hand dyed lace butterfly from Raviolee Dreams.

I really hope the "AHA!" moment will occur soon, because I need to finish this pouch over the weekend :)

Repurposing - The Stitcher's Way

I got this beautiful earring stand made by Kilyén József, as a prize won at a handmade contest last year. I hardly ever wear earrings, so the stand quickly found its way into my studio and is now happily holding my needles threaded with silk ribbons. It has become a very useful and much appreciated "tool" and, besides being a lovely decoration of my working table I can also use it to measure the chaos level on the table LOL Can you see how?

Not bad for a former earring stand, is it? :)

Work in Progress & Creative Chaos

Cristina, my high school  classmate, whom I haven't seen for more than 20 years, chose "happy colors" like purple and pink for her phone pouch and we agreed on using this lovely image of a lady with a large green hat, with violets and pink roses.

Except for the image I ended up using none of the embellishments I have pulled out initially. What I did use was this gorgeous piece of vintage lace of which I wish I had more...
Here is the block pieced, auditioning embellishments:

And here with the basic seam treatments:

Most of the beads are sewn on, too, so tomorrow I will continue adding some more silk ribbon violets and roses, and hopefully sew the pouch together.
Now my creative chaos is patiently waiting for me to pick things up again in the morning...

Happy Thursday, Everyone!
